it was ok

This book had it's moments. It certainly had plot twists and turns, and it kept me going. But, it also had moments that were groan out loud challenges in suspending disbelief. Seriously? A baby monitor that 'runs out of batteries'? Come on. They may have battery backup for if the power goes out, but parents take those things seriously. They are plugged in, and stay plugged in - just for this reason. And a mom whose baby doesn't wake at the normal time, or 15 minutes later, or 1/2 hour later...any parent would crack the door, or check the monitor to see what's up. That's just basic. There were other things that irritated that aren't worth mentioning, except the final bit where the therapist is dating someone from her group. Most people know, but as a therapist I guarantee this is unethical, and would result in her losing her job and license.
It's too bad, the book did have promise, and I wanted to like it, but these bits tainted it for me. When I looked at other books by the author and saw there was another where the main character was a psychologist, I decided to take a pass on it...if this book is an example, I don't think I can stomach that one!
