Ooof. One of my least favorite books I’ve read in a long time. This would have been a DNF for me but I always hope there will be a pleasant twist or something but nope. The dialogue was ridiculous and every adult spoke like they were at a slam poetry reading or something. Suuuuper unrealistic and dramatic way for adults to talk and Bela’s dialogue was also tough. Was she 5? Was she 8? Has this author met a child before? Ugh. So disappointed because it was so hyped up. Oh well. Can’t all be winners.
