The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian

This is a hard book to review -- as a standalone young adult book for boys especially, it works on many levels. The graphics make the text more richly layered and the voice is very much on point with that age group. It's funny yet poignant, and also provides a window in indigenous life on the reservation. After the charges made against Alexie for sexual harassment (and the nature of how he did it), the numerous references to horniness, boners, and penises got tiresome. I was a boy, I know how that is a realistic part of a teenage boy's thoughts, but still, it got a little gross after a while, especially as it is billed as being mostly autobiographical.
