A strong 3 stars

A slow read, but a nice story. I wish we got more of story after the ending however it felt complete. A story about friendship, community, love, and the unspoken bond we have with animals.

The story follows two individuals who find each other, just as they both feel most alone. Cameron annoyed me, I wish he tried to be better, and his redemption was very flat. I wish we also got more from the story post his connection with Tova, it just happened at the end so quickly. I felt sad throughout Tova’s story, she was my favourite and I love her relationship with the octopus. I just wish the last 20% was a bit more in depth with the connection, her relationship with Ethan, her process in staying in the bay, Cameron’s relationship with Avery.

My favourite part truly was the story of Tova’s grief, but I think that’s because it made me emotional.

Once I put the puzzle pieces together I was more into the book because I was waiting for it to all unfold, but it just felt flat, and like I was just constantly waiting.

Tova and the Cat 💕💕💕💕
