Oh humans and aliens, will they ever get along?

Our heroes, Alex and Chase, receive a cryptic message from a Horror Author that recently had her mind wiped. Alex and Chase head to the authors last known whereabouts to discover what she got herself into. The heroes explore all the spooky tourist traps and uncover a deadly conspiracy.

This book is a sci fi mystery like the rest of the series, but the mystery is actually solved halfway through and the back half follows the consequences of what is uncovered.

The second half is basically a study of disaster relief in SPAAAAAAAACCEEEEE. The characters have to convince humans and aliens alike to come together in the name of peace and saving lives.

Half a mystery, half a political drama, maybe it would have been better if this were two books so each side could get the authors full attention. Regardless, this has McDevitts typical mix of intrigue, action, humor, and food for thought. Plus if you’ve liked the mysterious Mutes in the series so far, this one gives the audience a deeper look into their life.
