With two unreliable narrators, I found myself constantly questioning what was real and what was imagined. I found Dr. Byrd鈥檚 frequent changes in diagnoses for Jane鈥檚 psychosis to be frustrating. Finally, the 鈥渁ttraction鈥 between the main characters that鈥檚 mentioned was not particularly believable. While I really enjoyed this author鈥檚 first novel, The Age of Miracles, I did not find this novel particularly engaging, especially when I got to the unusual ending.

Thank you to NetGalley and Madison Dettlinger of Random House Marketing for the opportunity to read a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

allison for real! the fact that Dr. Byrd grew to have feelings for Jane, someone that he barely knew aside from her incredible memory and her fugue states, was unrealistic to me. and that they left the bench together in the end. another decent story ruined by a straight person. the addition of supernatural elements in the end was frustrating, too. I wish I could find a book I thoroughly enjoy
