"Optimism is a perfectly legitimate response to failure."

Probably my favourite King book after "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption"!
I love both the autobiographical part, which showcased his excellent storytelling skills and his humor, and the practical advice. For a bestselling author he strikes me as an extremely down to earth individual who believes in self reflection and improvement. What made this book special is that its wisdom is applicable to activities outside of writing. The author encourages us to try, make mistakes, learn from them, and try again. He encourages us to invest time and effort into whatever we are passionate about, and confirms the obvious truth - if you want to be good at something, then practice, practice, practice.
I have a lot more respect for King's works (and those of others) after having read this book. But I also feel touched, inspired, and motivated, therefore, I think it deserves its praise.

"The scariest moment is always just before you start."

"Kill your darlings, kill your darlings, even when it breaks your egocentric little scribbler’s heart, kill your darlings."
