The Graveyard Book

I've always struggled with Neil Gaiman's novels, despite loving his comics and graphic novels. However I was eager to read this one as not only was it a children's book (therefore I hoped it was going to be less convoluted than previous novels) but it was also a children's book set in a graveyard. As I photograph cemeteries as part of an on-going art project this would obviously appeal to me!
I personally loved the book. I felt that Neil really created a wonderful character in Bod, a boy on the threshold of manhood trying to discover his history and beginnings. The ghosts of the graveyard were funny and interesting also.
I wouldn't say that this is a true introduction to the world of Neil Gaiman however it is a very easy and fun read and if you don't mind reading literature aimed at children (there is an adult's edition featuring a jacket designed by the brilliant Dave McKean) then I totally recommend it.
