3.5, rounded down. I admit it's inherently hard for me to love a collection of short stories (Milk Blood Heat and In the Dream House are the only two that have stood out to me). I also admit I haven't read a lot of short story books. Anyway, I really liked this premise and I think the stories were well done -- some more than others. Perhaps if I had sat with the stories more and used a more literary fiction analytic approach, I would have had a greater appreciation for them, but as it were, I enjoyed reading them but wasn't super emotionally impacted or struck.
