This book read like a horror. There were parts that were so awful and disturbing that I wanted to turn away. I am awed by the mind that can conceive the characters and plot and write in such an unflinching way. Did I enjoy the book? No, I wouldn't say that. But I was compelled to read it to the ending. And I will continue to read Cormac McCarthy.
