Remarkably Bright Creatures

Engaging enough piece of "chic lit" that I usually do not do. Has a cool octopus. At the core of it is a drama based in a sequence of misunderstandings. Like a soap opera, we know whose son this is, but they don't, and the drama is in whether they find out. I kept thinking of 190+ episodes of The Rich Also Cry, waiting to see if/when Marianna tells Louis Alberto the whole truth.

"Not sure it's my cup of tea. For one thing, I expected something a bbbit different. In my head, I mistranslated the "remarkably bright" as, you know, bright and colorful - especiallly how the cover is so bright and colorful. The realization that it means "smart" instead - really somehow took away the freshness of the whole thing.
The octopus is accting as some sort of a deus ex machina. Mostly chick lit."
