The Source (Necroscope, #3)

The story starts at Perchorsk with a secret military project by the Russians. Michael "Jazz" Simmons, a British spy, is caught by the Russians and sent through the gate into another realm. Can he be saved? What about this parallel world? We also meet Harry Keogh who's looking for his son and wife and we also learn were the vampire myth originally comes from. Fantastic book with elements of sci-fi, horror, classic spy novel and a parallel world like in Lord of the Rings. Many things reminded me on Tolkien's fiction. It was by no means an easy read or page turner. But Lumley creates one of the best series on vampires ever. Very convincing and starting in the cold war. This third installment was the best so far. We come to the origins of vampirism and this is something you won't read anywhere... absolute highlight novel I can highly recommend. Horror classic!
