2.5 ⭐️ maybe

This is going to be an absurd review where I say that this completely self-proclaimed diet book (right there in the title, not hiding) was too diet-y for me. Someone recommended it to me, saying that women in their 30s should start to learn about menopause and get ahead of it, that you can make some nutritional changes to better support an aging body. Interesting! This book was sort of that, but tied up in a nice, highly restrictive diet bow.

I was looking forward to a book that might help me learn about better fueling my body as its needs may change. I could say I did learn some of that. She recommends avocados basically every day. More fiber than you think. Berries and apples are great. Broccoli is like a menopause superfood. Got it. And some compelling arguments for intermittent fasting (she recommends 16-8, which is easier than many). But man, the constant reviews from real people who tried this diet and lost lbs and inches felt like more of a commercial to me than a book. It was so focused on weight loss specifically. And it just so happens that she has her own line of expensive supplements. How convenient!

40% sales pitch. 30% science that was just a little too sciencey. 20% really interesting and helpful information about menopause and its effect on the female body. 10% interesting information on some great foods to work into the diet probably no matter your age. 10% super strict diet recommendations but sold as not? (Yeah, that’s more than 100%) And meal plans that are “sooo easy and delicious but include mashed cauliflower and “ordering double veggies instead of fries when eating out. LOL. 👎🏻

Anyways. I don’t especially recommend this one. I suppose if I hit 60 and feel like absolute shit, I might be compelled to try something so extreme. But for now it’s not for me. I’ll happily eat my guacamole and strawberries and hope it helps.
