I love Mary Oliver and obviously Dream work wasn't an exception. With hits such as "Wild geese" and "Dogfish" (the quote "mostly, I want to be kind" has been my motto for a while but I don't feel like I had read the whole poem before, and, to be honest, the rest of it reinforced me in believing in that...), there were many that didn't have a full emotional impact on me (not every poetry collection can be Felicity) but I still find beautiful and meaningful. These days, we need to be reminded of the beauty of this world despite its horrors, and that appreciating one is not denying the other.

You don’t want to hear the story
of my life, and anyway
I don’t want to tell it, I want to listen

to the enormous waterfalls of the sun.

And anyway it’s the same old story
a few people just trying,
one way or another,
to survive.

Mostly, I want to be kind.
And nobody, of course, is kind,
or mean,
for a simple reason.

And nobody gets out of it, having to
swim through the fires to stay in
this world.
