Gild (The Plated Prisoner, #1)

A young woman with a variety of dermatological conditions, including the worst skin tags ever, lives in a giant cage because of toxic masculinity. Her captor is King Midas, and let me tell you: he’s a dick. Auren has spent her life being trafficked and groomed, and this book doesn’t skimp on the upsetting content, which means you shouldn’t skimp on reading the trigger warnings. This is the first installment in a series so while I have no idea what’s going to happen, I feel it will involve the following:
1. Mr. Spiky Spine
2. Unfortunately, Auren’s ribbons
3. Digby because if anything happens to him I am
burning this city to the ground
This book utilizes one of my biggest pet peeves, which is modern language in a vaguely medieval-themed fantasy setting, but either I’m growing as a person or I’m just giving up because I didn’t really care. Is it perfect? No. But isn’t that sort of the point?
