A fun fantasy and maybe a little romantasy but not much in my book. It has found family and good friendships and kindness and care at its core. I was a little put off by a sentient plant or two. Really not very cuddly, however they are very loyal to Kiela. Lots of magic and spells and books about magic and mermaids and so many of all kinds of characters.
