A philosophical-political work in the best sense of the word - offering a critical analysis of the politics of anti-politics (for Ranciere somewhat synonymous with anti-democracy).
Ranciere focuses on the critique or hate of democracy, as old as democracy itself and as strong as ever. This work is a critique of intellectuals, critics, technocrats and other anti-populists that are eager to decrease the de-stabilising influence and power of the the demos. This fight is fought in the name of democracy and against populism, but Ranciere delivers a thought-provoking reading of this fight as an actual attack against democracy, fought with the covert aim of maintaining the oligarchic state of affairs.
Highly recommended read - in the best paragraphs Ranciere challenges the prevailing and the popular notions of democracy and democratic threats.
