it was ok

The women in this book were written as flat, passive passengers in their own narrative. I found Clytemnestra & Cassandra more compelling than Elektra (which isn’t really saying much as Elektra sucked ass). Clytemnestra by Costanza Casati is a much better retelling (though you won’t get much Cassandra or Elektra). Unsure if I’ll read Hera, though I probably will because I already borrowed it.

They feel like passive characters in their own stories instead of strong women with personality & now looking back I’m questioning if I rated Atalanta and Ariadne too high. I’m feeling like a certified hater right now because the writing/prose is pissing me off as well."

At least clytemnestra’s rage makes sense, her need for vengeance is valid (IMO), whereas Elektra sees her father as someone he’s not, and cannot for the life of her understand her mothers grief or rage. This book has done nothing but piss me off."
