kulti follows sal casillas and reiner kulti as kulti, a well-known soccer player is assigned to coach sal’s soccer team. what he doesn’t know is that sal had been obsessed with him for her entire childhood
sal casillas . i have mixed feelings about sal. on one had, she was extremely hard-working and dedicated to her sport, but on the other hand, she was so weird 😭. for the first 50% or so of the book, everytime she would see kulti, she would repeat “poop in her head at least 5 times. mariana zapata always has something in a book which makes it different from any other book written, and for this book, it was this. however, i loved how much she loved her family and again, how hard-working she was.
🇩🇪 reiner kulti . WE GET IT HE’S GERMAN. the amount of times sal would refer to him as something from germany or “the german was taking years off my life. “pumpernickel, “german chocolate cake, “berlin, “the german, PLSSSSS. i think we got it the first few times mariana!! other than that, WOW, he was soo grumpy 🤭. at the end though when he and sal get together “i would do anything for you SWOONINGGGG.
overall, this was a super solid slow-burn book! i enjoyed reading about the relationship and the character development. however, the soccer stuff got a bit boring and confusing at times, but maybe that’s just because i don’t play or watch soccer.
