Well, I can't say I was blown away, but I won't say this wasn't a solid read, especially if you enjoy historical fiction / fantasy / generational family drama. The prose was splendid, and the characters were either wonderful or loathsome, but my biggest issue with this was that for a large portion of my read I STRUGGLED to keep these characters straight, up until the later parts of the novel, so for that alone I've given this a 3-Star rating. I may go back and re-read this one at a later time and re-evaluate my rating, since I seem to be the minority here. Definitely keeping my eye on this author's forthcoming work!
