Is anything we think, love, hope, dream - real? Or is it all a dream within a dream? Are we imagining it? How can we tell? Poe's philosophical question poses a dilemma to the average person trying to ascertain how much of what we believe is real. It makes me think of Dumbledore's answer when Harry Potter dies and then asks him, "Is this real, or is it all in my head?" Poe would have appreciated Dumbledore's answer, "Of course it's all in your head, but why would that mean it isn't real?" Questions to ponder, deeper than Jack Handy. A healthy dose of Poe is needed to answer.
