I've Got Questions: The Spiritual Practice of Having It Out with God

I've read a great deal, but I've pre-ordered 2 books total in my entire life, and this is one of them. Erin Moon has a rare voice in the "disentangling"/ "deconstruction"/"I grew up Evangelical, and what the heck is happening here now" thought space. This book is witty and relatable--like a friend telling you their life story and the ways they have navigated the unanswerable questions that arise when easy, shallow faith answers collide with life's harsh realities. It's also theologically rich and filled with brilliant insight from a gifted Bible scholar and writer. It may sound cliché, but I laughed, cried, and raised my ex-Evangelical hands in amen agreement as I read. What I love most about Erin's sharing her journey (drink) is her refusal to devolve into a self-proclaimed guru with a slick marketing pitch about how to deconstruct in 5 easy steps. She leads with questions (see the book's title) and leaves us with the answer that questions aren't the antithesis to faith worth giving our lives for, but the very thing we need to begin cultivating that kind of faith. This book is for anyone who has been a part of Evangelical faith spaces and/or culture and for anyone who is struggling with questions about your Christian faith. It's fast-paced, hilarious at times, and also full of depth and goodness. Thanks to Baker Book House and Erin's team for the digital preview copy, so I could read it early! 💙
