Estela, the housekeeper for a wealthy family, is being interrogated about the death of their child. She unspools the full story of her time working for the family, her impressions of them, and, ultimately, what happened to their daughter.
This book was so immensely powerful. It digs into themes of social class structures in a really unique way. Estela’s narrative voice is very distinct and really differentiates the book from others like it. I was so hooked on this story that I woke up at 4:30 a.m. one day to finish it, because I was so eager to find out how it ends! I look forward to reading more from this author.
