Over the past 15 years I’ve read this book a handful of times. I read it mostly in my early to late twenties, and it helped me heal through the hardest season of my life. It brought me a lot of peace and comfort through a terrible loss. Reading it now at 38 made me realize how so many of my beliefs come from something I’d read in this book all those years ago. Between the last time I read this book and now, I had forgotten many, if not most, of the details.
I would have always rated this book 5 stars and claimed it as the most influential book I’ve ever read, but with that being said I looked too much into the author after reading it this time and found myself disappointed in some of the things I’ve seen her post (political), and it made me feel like I wish I had never even re read it. I wish I had left it as a big part of my past and my healing.
