Micheners books fallow a pattern of 100 page novellas string together over a huge timeline with some skein of story lashing the fragments together. Over this there’s some modern narrative that ties the novellas quite loosely.
The source is a big book and some parts get too pedagogical but then again the Jews were kept alive in part bc of that rabbinical thrust embodied in the Talmud and Torah�
