it was amazing

I absolutely LOVE the title and cover of this book. The moment I saw both, I knew I wanted to read it even before looking at the book description. I listened to it on audio via Libby and the narrator was good. She did well with the different voices and excelled at the various accents.

But what is great about this book? Well, pretty much everything! I mean, I’m giving it a five-star rating and that’s not something I hand out willy nilly to my reads. I can honestly say this is one of the best horror novels I’ve read in a long time, apart from those by my favourite horror author of all time, Stephen King (with Nick Cutter being a close second).

This chilling tale has it all. Mystery, nightmarish creatures, suspense, horrifying discoveries, and an awesomely twisted plot. But it also has very lifelike characters, a badass main character with a disability which the author handled with sensitivity and compassion realistic dialogue, and a married couple whose troubles evokes much sympathy from the reader. I also appreciated that the “villains weren’t one-sided, typically evil characters, but ones who in a strange way makes the reader feel something for them. The ending was also perfect. I couldn’t see this story ending another way.

So, if you’re a hardcore horror fanatic like me and you haven’t read a good spine-tingling macabre book in a while, this one should be added and rapidly moved to the top of your TBR.
