it was amazing

Beth Brower is a master of characters. I've read her Emma M Lion series and this is so different - it's its own thing - but equally beautiful in different ways.

Quincy is a no-nonsense genius whose edges are hard to get past at first but you can't help but love. Her character arc and growth are everything. Her soul is laid bare on these pages in a beautiful poetic story.

Also, if anyone is in the mood for a slow burn, this one burns gooood. No rushing or false, stilted scenes. Arch also has an arc of his own and I love seeing him grow. Spending a year with Quincy and Arch, coming to know their world at The Q, is divine.

Like the Emma M Lion series, there's no real plot to this book but that's okay. The events of Quincy St Claire's life and world, and her incredible mind and growth, are more than enough. I smiled, I cried, I marveled at the poetry, and felt the full range of feelings, as you should when reading any moving book. I'll be thinking about this one for a long time to come.
