It’s a cute mess—lots probably got lost in translation. It’s super tacky, but I loved that, so it wasn’t an issue for me personally. Cultural differences also play a big role; all the talk about women’s weight felt like reading something from the 1950s, though I recognize that’s still a reality for many women in different parts of the world.
My own mom loves cooking with butter and passed that love on to me from an early age. She always said, ‘Butter for the mother’—so naturally, this book, with its focus on complex female relationships, felt special to me. It’s not a masterpiece, but I really enjoyed it!
