Spot's First Christmas

Basic concepts of exploring the world and making friends define the first few Spot the Dog books, and Spot's First Christmas expands into the arena of holiday fun. It's hard for a young pup to focus as Father Christmas's arrival nears, but Spot and Sally have much to do before the big day.
A Christmas tree has to be selected, of course. Gifts need to be wrapped with care, and the tree decorated artfully. Carolers show up at the door to perform a song. Can Sally corral Spot into bed before he tracks down his present hidden in the tree's boughs? With Spot finally snuggled in bed, Father Christmas can enter the scene. Come morning, our favorite pup is ecstatic to find his stocking filled with gifts. Spot's first Christmas is one he'll cherish always.
The vocabulary is a notch more complex than previous books, but nothing extreme. The story premise is less original, but spending Christmas with an excitable youngster is a blessing. Counting down the hours with Spot will help prereaders bond with him closer than ever.

"Not the right time of year, but I want to read and review this now so I can pick it up in December and purely enjoy the story. Plus, I'm kind of reviewing Eric Hill's Spot the Dog books in order, so to save this for much later in the year would disrupt my appraisal of the author's creative continuity."

"This book is plenty fun, as are all the Spot the Dog books I've read and reviewed thus far. I'll take a second read now to enhance my perspective on the story."

"A third read, and then I plan to draft my review this evening. Giving Eric Hill's books the focused reviews they deserve is as enriching an experience as the stories themselves."

"Having polished off the final draft of my review, I'll read this one last time today purely to appreciate the fun of Spot's first yuletide. I plan to revisit the book a time or two in December, of course. :-)"
