This book..... I have no words. It broke me on so many different levels... But let's see if I can go into it some.

I really enjoyed reading it, I think that Collins' style with her descriptions in this book is the best she has had yet. That being said, I thought that Haymitch sounded very country hick compared to Snow or Katniss, so that took some getting used to. I loved the constant inclusion of the poem Raven by Poe, I thought it added a very cool sense of realism to the narrative. Even though we know some of the story from the OG trilogy already, there were plenty of twists and turns so that was super fun. Overall, I rate this book a solid 5 stars, and I need extensive therapy now.

Death, blood, gore, poison, child death... I mean... it's the Hunger Games people. Drugs. Alcohol.

Uh.. yeah, this section is a stretch for this book. The biggest theme I can say is that you should... yeah I don't even have anything. It's Hunger Games people. You know what you're in for.

I adore Louella. Maysilee was tough at first but ended up being amazing. Wyatt should have gotten more airtime. I hate Dursilla with a passion. And Effie saved the day again. My feelings about Haymitch did not change that drastically. He is still a great character and I definitely enjoyed this book. Lenore Dove was cool, but Lucy Gray was better imo. And I really wish that Ampert had lived....

I thought that this Game would be less fun to read because we already knew how it ended and all since Katniss and Peeta watched it during prep for their second Game. But I actually really enjoyed it and was blown away by all the plot twists. I think that this was definitely the most gut wrenching of all of her books. I cried twice.

This is her best written book yet stylistically. I think that her descriptions are much stronger and I loved how much she incorporated the poem The Raven. I think Songbirds and Snakes is still my favorite book overall, but this is a close second.

I actually did not write in the margins of this book, despite owning a hardcopy, because I am lending it out directly after finishing it. But dang y'all.

Amazing book. I absolutely loved it and would immediately reread it if my little sister did not instantly take it from my hands as soon as I was done. I cannot wait for the movie and you can bet that I am going to see it in theaters opening night. I hope that everyone else enjoys this book and may the odds be EVER in your favor.

And then she’s gone to wherever people go when they die.
She hasn’t begged or pleaded; she retained her fury and defiance. Although for me, a persons desperation at the end is not a measure of their life, I know it mattered to her. Maysilee leaves the world the way she wanted, wounded but not bowed. I think about cleaning her up, but this is her final poster, and I won’t tidy it up to make it easier for those monsters in the Capitol to sleep tonight.
