** spoiler alert ** Before this, my favorite hunger games novel was Catching Fire, but I can definitively say Haymitch's backstory has taken the crown. Although I already knew the ending to his Quarter Quell win, the book still had several shocking twists - from sad, like Amperts ravaging squirrel attack; to wholesome, like finding out his best friend was Katniss' father. I also loved how the book tied in characters throughout the OG series like Effie and Plutarch, as well as President Snow's sequel. All in all, a beautifully written book and one of my favorite novels to date!
