(Really a 4.5 but rounded up on here)
I really was skeptical of the book when I read the premise after it being my March book for book club. But this was truly a fantastic read. Smart and fast paced, funny and so cuttingly accurate in its descriptions of particular environments (the book club chapter killed me!). It just wove so many themes together in such an interesting thread. But I think the most impressive thing is that you feel the change in Jessica as she does. I don’t feel like we know her much but that sort of emotive switch within her as you read was just phenomenal writing.
Am getting to meet Effie Black at book club tomorrow and excited to meet the person who has written the best thing I’ve read so far this year!
