Valentine dreams of a world where you and your partner are created for you to be perfect for each other. However, the Val in the strange world is unhappy, not particularly with her partner, but the entire lifestyle. It is bland and boring, while also being isolating as you only see your partner in reality; everyone else you meet is through VR.
I enjoyed the art style and even liked most of the characters--especially Soup. But the overall feeling I got after finishing the graphic novel was "well, that was okay."
You don't get a sense of which world is "real." Is Valentine, the potter in the cabin dreaming about being Val3? Or is Val3 so disenchanted with life under their dome on another planet that they're trying to find something more exciting? It is definitely open to interpretation.
It just seemed like another author's take on the isolation of the pandemic, which is fine! But it wasn't for me at the moment. I would definitely read other things by this author though.
