I read this in two sittings. The first sitting lasted 1/3 through before I threw the book at the wall. After which I decided I would not be beaten and tried again. Why? Because it's supposed to be a classic isn't it??!! What bull***t! This novel is the most tedious, boring, badly written rubbish I have read! I don't know how it could ever have found a publisher, anyway, I managed, through sheer determination and with much clenching of teeth to drag myself through this trollop of writing to the very end! The Very next day I went and threw it down on the reception desk of my nearest second-hand book shop and told the gent at the desk that he may burn it if he wished as it was complete rubbish or he might try to sell it off to the next fool who comes along, but, I from that day forward swore I would never pick up another 'Joyce' novel for as long as I lived. Drivel, absolute drivel. Waste of paper and forests.
