did not like it
bookshelves: fantasy, magic-realism

I really didn't 'get' this book at all. The novel follows the lives of a mentally challenged man and a runaway teenager, both in a quest to find the meaning of life. I usually like magic realism books that take you into another world. But this was really boring despite all the fantasy scenes and the ridiculous story lines. It seemed like the author was trying too hard to get across some spiritual message. The whole story was stagnant and I kept waiting for something big to happen. I enjoy the author's short stories better, but I'm not sure if I'll continue to read his novels.
