Many books start slowly and blossom later, but The Help grabbed me right from the beginning, sustained interest through the thought-provoking middle and I could not put it down until the satisfying conclusion. Wow!
So hard to believe that this is Kathryn Stockett's first novel! This new author is unusual in that she is both an excellent writer and a stellar storyteller. Fantastic characters, amazingly credible relationships and situations, down to the last fascinating detail.
In my opinion, The Help is a 5 star book all the way, and has now made it's way onto my favorites list. I don't want to spoil it by giving anything away. Please do yourself a favor and read it and decide for yourself.
