I want to read this book, i really do, but I will not read books by white people imagining the experiences of poc. It will not do. I will never be comfortable with this idea. I dont care if your black maid reared you, confided in you, and told you all her deepest secrets. You need to call it an autobiography and let her write her own damn book.

Izetta Autumn That's right Omni! Yes, I feel exactly the same way. I saw this book and have read reviews, it looks interesting to me, but I am deeply uncomfortable when white writers write from the perspective of/based on the experiences of POC. Thank you for your thoughts. This may be a library rental...

That said, it might be interesting to read this book and Loorie Moore's much anticipated and lauded book AGate at the Stairs.
