Back when I was twelve years old and an avid reader of Sweet Valley High, I would have lived and breathed these books. Therefore, I give a lot of credit to Smith as an author; she has successfully written novels for teens about a romantic relationship between human and vampire (and a good decade before the Twilight series).

Sure, there's not much depth here. Yet the plots were not completely transparent, and I'll admit I'm hooked enough to read through the rest of the four-book series.
