Read 3 times. Last read September 16, 2023.
9/16/23 - read a modern Romance and it set me off on a re-read of my favorite Georgette Heyer romances. I love this one so much, because I love the relationship-building between all of the characters, not just the main love interests. I could read a Venetia and Jasper: the married years sequel in a freaking heartbeat!
7/8/19 - sitting here with an "idiotish" smile on my face, having finished listening to Venetia yet again. I just love it so much: I wouldn't think that I was much of a romantic, but it makes me tear up and it makes me smile a big, cheesy grin. I just love it so! "Stoopid!"
Venetia is a new favorite of mine and I can't believe I haven't read this one of Heyer's until now. I love Venetia's lively sense of humor and her relationship with Lord Damerel - he is a fantastic character also. I really like her brother Aubrey, the household staff, the ridiculous Oswald, and the odious Mr. Yardley. The only complaint I had is the same that I have for any of Heyer's novel: they end too abruptly. I don't need a long-winded windup, but there were a few characters I wanted to know about, including the mysterious Conway and whether he triumphed over the intolerable Mrs. Scorrier, and how Ribble and Nurse and the housekeeper fared. Too Downton Abbey of me? Probably.

You definitely need to reread, if only so you can share what disappointed you. This is one of my favorites.
