Mackie Let me share here how this book has been recently reviewed:

"Amazingly accurate despite the years and Hurricane Katrina are the neighborhood tours. Readers can obtain a copy and tour the French Quarter, for instance, and Saxon still will be right on the money" (Cheré Coen, The Advertiser).

"For those new to the guide, the book serves not only as a history of the city, but also as a practical guide for the tourists of the era. And it serves as a charming souvenir, even today" (Susan Larson, (New Orleans Times-Picayune).

Frankly, there is no more timely a text at this time as this one to add to one's historical sense of New Orleans. This is a text that both brings the city's past into its future, and suggests a possible present that can underlie its future.
