Meh...the book had great potential but was ultimately disappointing. Other reviewers said the writing was not great (I agree) but the plot was fantastic. Ultimately even the plot was disappointing and the book was far too long. Some of the minor characters were actually the most interesting. Sadly, the author's reach exceeded her grasp. The book is an ambitious undertaking (an epic quest--semi fantastic--that takes place in multiple centuries and countries), but in the end it didn't live up to its promise.
