Finished! Long, methodical to the point of gnawing repetition, but wow! Great concepts, great thoughts. It's a book that keeps being good in spite of it's length; I actually found the epilogue fascinating (describing things like why Europe has been fragmented and China unified for the past few millenia - and how that's had a direct impact on things like why Europeans mounted sea expeditions and conquered the new world rather than China). I listened to this on long road trips, so would like to be able to see the charts he references, as well as footnotes and scholarly references. I also probably would have skimmed bits if that had been an option.
