Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West (The Wicked Years, #1)

I loved this book! I HATED the broadway show. I have no clue how its so overrated because I was absolutely bored to death the entire time. They took every cool nuance out of the book and put a romanticized version of it on stage. The teacher is a goat, yeah the two witches are actually college roommates, musical numbers galore... totally stripped of awesome satire and the dry humor of Maguire's story. The reason Elphaba was the witch of the WEST was left out of the play totally. She was a real woman, she had passion in her life. The play just sucked in my opinion. More like Annie Get Your Gun on broadway than conveying the awesome tone of the book. Maguire's political brilliance for the entire land of Oz was unsurpassed by any other telling of this timeless story. BOOK: PASS WITH FLYING COLORS; PLAY: MAJOR FAIL.
