yess...really this is great book forever

Yes, but not in the good way. I swear if this book was written today, and didn’t have a thousand year old cult following, there wouldn’t be a company in the country that would publish it.

People should subject all books to equal levels of scrutiny if they are trying to be helpful...what gets knocked down?...what remains?...the level of frivolity and violence in contemporary books is sometimes shocking....even for someone of this age...the hypocrisy of alleged feminism that doesn't protect women from abuse (and men from transgression) even in the most "modern" institutions...consider for example books that are adapted into other media...fire breathing dragons are entertaining, but hell is over the top?...really?....the essence of the independent mind lies not in 'what' it thinks but 'how'

Allow me to disagree with you. I am raised up with Quran and I am Arabic native speaker but it's still a difficult book for me to read. It's impossible to understand it without using a dictionary and at least one Tafseer book.
The version we have today is called Othman version مصحف عثمان, unfortunately the other 6 versions are lost. If we still had the other ones I am sure many things in the book would be clearified more.

this dates back to the 645 ( enough....are you sure you can read? Because it is there before your very eyes...unchanged...allow you to disagree?...allowed....but facts are not (I repeat NOT) a matter of opinion...they are very hard things to ignore in fact...so stubborn you can deny them but they remain...facts....

Learn the topic before you speak...reckless...can you imagine if it was a Muslim country?...what wouldn't you have said to argue with facts?...I realize you misunderstood the 7 tongues issue...but take a hard long look at yourself, don't be so presumptive...and think before you speak...what you are confusing is the 7 tongues issue (a mercy to non-Arabs allowing them a range of acceptable recitations)...because the Arabs who memorized it had 7 tongues...i.e. 7 pronunciations.... so misleading....reckless...being ignorant is one thing, being ignorant and misleading others...maybe read that book of Tafseer (the intro talks about the 7 tongues and what it means) guess who read that book (the abbreviated version is one book really but the full text is a series, you have it the other way around ) guess who read that before they presumed to be able to speak to it...

it's clear enough, you seem to think the interpretation of Ibn Katheer is one book...you also seem unaware that there are many interpretations...

it's difficult for you to read because you don't read...don't shift the blame on the book, nor on the Muslims who actually preserved human heritage in the 7th century, this is widely known enough, and verified enough...I find it hard to accept you are on goodreads commenting on a book when you know so little about it....being raised by archaeologists wouldn't make me an authority on archaeology, nor does being raised by doctors, nor judges....why does being raised by Muslims (I even question the assumption that underpins that label) why does it make you an expert on the book?!!!
