Summoned (Summoned, #1)

Every preconceived notion and expectation of genies go in the trash with ‘Summoned. Dimitri isn’t Aladdin’s blue Genie or any other pleasant, wish-fulling genie ever conceived
Imagine yourself in a situation where you have no choice but to obey the commands of an evil, calculating master who orders you to break every law from petty theft to murder. Not obeying a wish comes with severe consequences; a dull hum in your head that evolves into an intense roar bent on destroying your sanity and eventually destroying you. This is Dimitri’s plight, and even though he’s one bad Jinn, he’s a trapped rat dreaming of a way out of his master, Karl Walker’s, nefarious clutches. Complicate that with an impromptu romp with the luscious Syd which turns into a love affair of sorts, and you’re in for a wild ride on the twisted dark side of traditional Djinn (genie) folklore. The things Dimitri is forced do is appalling, but it’s difficult to hate him when he has no choice but to obey or be destroyed
The plot is beautifully woven with mind-blowing twists and sizzling sex scenes, and the conclusion will leave you reeling and feeling the backlash commonly associated with having finished a fantastically executed novel with an insanely good story line. Rainy Kaye’s writing is edgy, fresh and utterly different from any of the common cookie-cutter genres. Kaye is a master at bridging the divide between the lighter side of genie folklore and tradition to the darker, more realistic origins from which they emerged in ‘Summoned.
