The Selection is a very light and fast paced read. It isn’t brilliant whatsoever, has some flaws and the book happens in a dystopian world that could be way more developed. It’s a fun read, and it was exactly what I needed right now.

America, persuaded by her parents and her boyfriend Aspen (??!!!), tries to be one of the 35 girls to get selected to meet Prince Maxon, and hopefully, be engaged to him. Being a Five isn’t easy, and the hunger and work America has in her faction impels her to try to help her family when she gets selected, and so she goes.

In the end it has funny moments but also a lot of cliché moments. Obviously, America will be confused between Maxon and Aspen, while learning to be a princess and discovering the past that was hide from the world. Even so, the end let us with curiosity to the next one. Let’s see how this evolves.
