Whilst many of the actions in this book are men hurting women, I actually read the whole series and it helps makes more sense of what starts in this book . . . Must have been a good start as I immediately purchased the next books! Not for the feint hearted or those expecting a romantic tale, this is essentially a series of crime investigation scenarios which are interwoven expertly by the author to keep the reader unsure about what will happen next and what the motivations of characters really are . . . well worth persevering with IMHO!
