The Road

The Road was sadly underwhelming for a Pulitzer Prize winner. It maintained a black-and-white background of the road itself and the Man's surroundings, and I think Cormac was trying to focus on the Man-son relationship instead. For me, none of it clicked.
The story included lots of pretty words connected together but lacks any of the elements of quality literature, including a good story. No other characters for a foil except a few quickly added and subtracted for shock value. The style of writing without quotes get confusing on who is saying what to whom. No beginning. No ending. The plot and character development is so-so. I don't know what the fuss is all about. If I was an editor I would have thrown it back.
