The One (The Selection, #3)

That book was simply amazing. Obviously the best of all three. I don't even know where to start. It was so breathtaking, that I almost couldn't breathe while reading this book.

(SPOILERS BY THE WAY)
I have to admit though, that starting these series I wasn't as thrilled as I am right now. Sure, I liked The Selection, but sometimes I found it boring, and the fact that the selection was going to last through the three entire books simply discouraged me. Yet most of the time I was a bundle of nerves and chaotic feelings toward Maxon and Aspen.
At the beginning I had a feeling that Aspen wasn't going to be an important character to the series. That he would turn out to be just like Gale from Hunger Games. A simple, not developing character that's in the series to just mess up the canon ship. But he turned out to be so much more! I have to admit that I seriously disliked him after he broke up with America, back then no one would've convinced me that he wasn't an ass. And when it turned out that he was a guard in the palace I was mentally screaming. But in the end everything came back to place. I love the idea of Aspen and Lucy together! So yeah, I like Aspen.
And now Maxon.

He was SUCH a sweetheart! All the letters he wrote to America were so lovely! And the fact that he was so terribly embarrased by them made it even better and more romantic.
I didn't understand why America was holding back from such a guy in the beginning. I mean, I understand that she was confused, that both of them were arguing quite often and that she still had some feelings for Aspen, but seriously.
And when Maxon found out about Aspen being a guard in the palace I seriously had to skip a few sentences. Yes, it hurt so much. And it hurt me even more when Maxon pushed America back, and almost proposed to Kriss. And I was at the edge of bursting into tears when he got injured and told America that he almost made a mistake and that he loved her... Oh my Gods.
And the true proposal...
Oh my Gods.
And the wedding...
Oh my Gods.

But aside all the love stuff, the book was still awesome! I really loved the characters and the idea of classes. Practically everything made sense, and it was very easy for me to imagine the sceneries etc. The rebels, maids, other canditates... all the second plan characters were also great.
After reading this book, I doubt that any other will have such a perfect happy ending. I felt that my heart was full, that America and Maxon would be happy after all, yet my heart was empty at the same time. Knowing that that was it. That I was left to fantasy about what happens to them after the wedding, that I had to finish with that series. And I know, that it doesn't matter if I forgot everyrthing and read the book again, it would never feel the same like the first time.
I may be very young, maybe even TOO young to read things like this, but I was never so glad of reading a romance/dystopian novel like this. And I'm sure that somewhere there are people who feel just like me.
Congratulations Kiera Cass. Congratulations.
