Its probably pointless to review this book outside of reminding myself what I liked most about it. It's character painting to the Nth degree possible. It's 1950s reality on paper (to someone who wasn't alive in the 1950s). Like Huck Finn, I ask: Is it even a book, or is it an actual person on paper? I get confused.
